The loyalty of our well-established team is testament to our caring and happy ethos. We are all part of the community we serve and are passionate about the work we do – and we hope that comes across.
We offer continuity to our patients. You will see the same dentist, who will get to know your mouth and teeth intimately and you are assured the same high-quality service at each and every visit.
The dentists
The likeable manner of our highly-skilled team of dentists puts patients at ease and instils them with confidence. Their breadth of experience means they can advise on, or provide solutions for, patients’ restorative needs and cosmetic desires.

Robin qualified from the Welsh National School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1968. An appointment in restorative dentistry was followed by positions as a house surgeon and senior house surgeon in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Cardiff Royal Infirmary.
Robin developed special interests in orthodontics, oral surgery and endodontics (root fillings), and worked part-time at Frenchay Hospital as a clinical assistant in orthodontics for 12 years. Outside the practice he enjoys skiing, tinkering with his 1965 Morgan car and DIY.

Mike qualified from Birmingham University dental school in 1982. Since then he has gained extensive experience in general practice both in Birmingham and later in Bristol, after moving to the city in 1987. He joined Bank Cottage Dental in 1997, becoming a partner in 2005.
Outside dentistry Mike’s other interests include running, competing in regular half-marathons and off-road races. He has completed two London marathons, raising money for the Dreams Come True charity and for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. He is also trying to learn the guitar!

After completing his studies as a dental technician, Connor went on to study dentistry at Sheffield University and graduated in 1998. Since then he has worked as a family dental practitioner in Barnsley and Nottingham, and now at Bank Cottage Dental, where he has been practising for the last seven years. Connor’s previous training as a dental technician has provided him with invaluable insight into the fabrication of crowns, bridges and dentures. This has enabled him to work closely with the dental laboratory to ensure that the best possible outcome can be achieved for his patients. In his spare time, Connor enjoys playing football and running, when not occupied with his new born son!

Stephanie qualified from the Welsh National School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1968. She worked as a house surgeon in children’s dentistry and orthodontics for six months followed by a year working for the School Dental Service in the Welsh valleys, before coming to Thornbury. She joined Bank Cottage in 1993 on a part-time basis and worked for the Community Dental Service in Gloucestershire until 2000.
Her other interests include reading, gardening, skiing and solving crosswords.

Louise qualified from the University of Bristol dental school in 1992. Since then she has worked in dental practices in Swindon and Bristol, joining Bank Cottage in 2008. She has a keen interest in disease prevention and periodontology (gum problems).
Louise is married with three children. Outside dentistry her interests include running, tennis and music.

Dr Claudia Richard qualified as a dental surgeon from the University Mainz, Germany in 1993. In 2003 Claudia completed her formal postgraduate orthodontic training at Bristol University and also obtained her Masters Degree in Orthodontics from the Chamber of Dentists in Muenster, Germany. In her spare time Claudia enjoys travelling, motorcycling, gardening and looking after her cat.
Practice Manager

Teresa Witchell knows Bank Cottage better than anyone having been a valued member of the team since 1971 when she began as a trainee receptionist. With a background in dental nursing, a BTEC Certificate in Management Studies and as a long standing member and former chairman of the British Dental Practice Managers' Association, Teresa is well placed to lead the management of the team and to ensure that patients derive value from attending the practice.
The hygienist team
After a session with one of our four excellent hygienists your mouth will feel unbelievably clean and fresh. Our hygienists,
Jo-Anne Hutchinson, Bernardene Lusby, Sarah Patrick and Helen Rigg will remove the bacterial plaque that builds up between visits - contributing to decay, gum disease and bad breath. They also offer great advice for improving your oral hygiene routine at home and will show you how to use the right interdental products.

Suzette & Donna
The nursing team
Our fully-qualified and highly-experienced dental nurses play a vital role in the practice. They are responsible for maintaining our strict cross-infection controls to ensure patients and the clinical team are suitably protected. Their knack for putting patients at ease, and their support to the dental team to create a comfortable experience, makes them invaluable. We have six dental nurses: Lynda Belbin, Jane Copeland - our oral health educator, Suzette Fuller - who is qualified to take X-rays, Maureen Gilroy, Val Peacock and Donna Watkins.

The reception team
Our team of three receptionists: Karen Wiltshire, Becci Smith and Angela Bushell have all been familiar faces at Bank Cottage for many years. Together they welcome patients and their families with their warm, courteous attitude and friendly smiles.
