Unerupted Teeth

As it is normal for teeth to develop and erupt at different rates, you can expect that some teeth remain unerupted depending on at what stage of dental development you or your child are.

However, if a tooth or several teeth do not appear to be erupting as they should, or there appears to be a delay in the loss of the baby teeth, discuss this with your dentist or seek an opinion from a specialist orthodontist.

Various factors can affect the eruption of permanent teeth such as loss of space through overcrowding, early loss of baby teeth, malposition of tooth bud (ectopic), tooth bud has not developed and is missing, physical obstruction preventing eruption or even a generalised medical underlying cause.
